Head coach Gasperini's priority at Roma is to build upon the current squad, and, as per , the Italian have identified Flamengo right-back Wesley as a priority signing for the Giallorossi. The 21-year-old has been on Gasperini's radar since his days at Atalanta.

Wesley has played a prominent role in the Flamengo squad, winning the Copa Libertadores in 2022 and was later also named in the 2024 Brasileiro Serie A Team of the Year. With Wesley, the Roma coach plans to add more technical ability and drive on the wings, a key position in the Europa League winner's tactics. However, Juventus are also looking to bring Wesley to Turin and believe their former Brazilian stars Danilo and Alex Sandro can influence the player to join Igor Tudor's side.
